Hunting to be Allowed on Asheville City Schools Property

Asheville City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to allow hunting on private property, including school grounds.

In January, a representative from Asheville City Schools requested the city change the firearms ordinance to allow bow hunting within the city limits to control the dear population.

Tuesday’s vote allows archery hunting on private property, with limitations. Deer hunting can only take place during the designated season, the land used has to be at least 20 acres wide, hunters have to be at least 250 feet from the property line and there needs to be a posting that allows hunting on the property.
