How to Pattern a Turkey Gun: Federal TSS and Kicks Chokes

Phillip takes a look at the new Federal TSS loads combined with Kicks choke tubes at the gun range. Patterning your shotgun prior to your season opener is crucial.  Phillip shoots two different shotgun loads at different distances to see what patterns the best from his Remington V3.

Good shooting ammo, but my longbeard xrs do better for much cheaper.

I’ve never seen 9 shot in a turkey load. Will the small shot carry enough energy for clean kill on a 40 yard shot? The performance on paper target is impressive, but have you used them in the field?

TSS is great but it just encourages the know nothing turkey hunters to take long range shots.

Did you try the choke that came with that gun, the truglo headbanger? I would lay dimes to dollars it out shoots those kicks choke tubes. Don't get me wrong…I like kicks, but that headbanger is the real deal!!!!

Not impressed. My 3”x6’s in Long Beards smoke those patterns.

Those patterns are lame by my standards. I’m afraid a lot of birds now will get wounded because so many people think they’ve got a wonder load. Most turkeys I call in are under forty yards so I don’t need anything more than what I’m hunting with. Plus, I won’t pay what they’re asking for that stuff. To each his own though. It does seem that the actual hunt has disappeared and now it’s all about how far this round can kill.

Try 59.99 for 5 shells on the TSS………No thank you !! I'll stick to my Longbeards

60.00 for 5 shells….. that is just stupid and so are the people that buy that crap

What puzzles me is Remington hasn't come out with anything that compares to these two shells. I haven't shot Remington turkey loads in years. I shoot a 1187 sportman set up for turkeys only. Don't get it.

Long beard xr for the win. Knocked one down at 79 yards this year with them.

Those are terrible patterns for #9 TSS. Need to find the right choke for that gun. I get about what his 40 yard pattern is at 75 with #7.5 TSS.

Nice video but I'll stick to my Remington SP10, 10ga Using Federal Flite Control Mag Shok's in #5's & my Primo's JellyHead choke tube.. It's absolutely lights out deadly on turkey's..

You should try LongBeard XR #6 From a Kicks Gobblin Thunder Choke and from a Carlson LongBeard Choke
